Week 15
What have you learned that has proven most useful to your composition process? The activity that has been the most helpful to my writing process throughout this course has been peer review. Getting feedback from classmates has not only given me constructive criticism but has also pushed me to think more critically about my own writing.

Week 13
What is the relationship between your research essay and your MMT? Compare the rhetorical situation of each. My research essay and MMT are based on the same information, but they communicate it in very different ways. The main difference is in how each one presents the content. The rhetorical situations are similar, but the audience, genre, and purpose set them apart. For the essay, the audience and purpose were mostly academic, aimed at my professor, and focused on a detailed historiography of the World Trade Center. On the other hand, the MMT was designed for a more general audience like tourists, making the information concise and visually engaging so it’s…

Week 12
As you have continued your research work, how has your argument evolved? The parts of my research and writing that have changed the most are my focus on time periods, my ideas for the future, and my overall lens. At first, my argument was really basic and it only covered the history of the World Trade Center without much depth. But as I kept researching, I realized there was more to explore. Coming across many documents and articles when I was researching made me realise that I wanted to focus on a community lense because I was amazed from how the way of life can change over the years when…

Week 11
What’s the intended rhetorical situation of your research essay? What do you need to do to make this situation a reality? The rhetorical situation of my research essay is to educate my audience about the history of the World Trade Center and its significance as a symbol of resilience, innovation, and the ability to rebuild after tragedy. The World Trade Center represents much more than a collection of buildings; it’s a powerful reminder of human strength and creativity, from its original construction to its destruction on 9/11 and eventual rebuilding. My audience includes my professor and anyone interested in exploring the deeper meaning of this site’s transformation over time. To…

Week 9&10
Discuss your research sources. What media are you using? How do these different types of media support your topic/ideas? your writing work? For my research, I’m mainly using blogs and articles that focus on the past and present of lower Manhattan, especially where the World Trade Center is located. All these sources focus on different periods, whether it is pre-colonial, past, or present, but all with the same purpose of helping me understand and create a timeline for my paper. Showing how before Manhattan was inhabited by Europeans, the Lenape people were the first settlers fast forward to the 20th century the area was called Radio Row and later on…

Week 8
What theory or theories are related to your proposal? How do they relate to your research? OR if absolutely no theories are related to your inquiry: What have we done so far that has been helpful to your writing process? Peer review is one of the most helpful things to me in my writing process because when I’m writing, it is hard for me to criticize myself because I want to believe that my work is good, but with peer review, I can get real feedback on my paper and try to fix it. Another thing is annotating the text I’m reading for my research. How might you apply this…

Week 7
Select one learning objective or one component of a learning objective. How have you learned it? How have you developed this arena so far this semester? I decided to pick our learning analysis essay because it was our first paper this semester. Preparing to write and then submitting it was a whole process on its own. At the beginning of the semester, I can say that I wasn’t very confident in my writing, but as time passed, class after class, I saw myself getting better and better. I believe two things that helped me a lot to get where I am right now were the learning analysis outline and the…

Week 6
Annotate one article you plan to use in your research. Share what kind of information you wrote in your research. Did annotating help you? If yes, how? If no, why not? What else do you need to do to process this article? I have started to do my research and have been exploring my options on different architectural sites around NYC. Even though I still haven’t quite picked out what I want to write about, I did come across an article on The Metropolitan Museum of Art that piqued my interest. This article was posted on the MET website and it highlighted the history of the building. I would say…

Week 5
Analyze the rhetorical situation of your Learning Analysis. Introduce your essay’s genre, purpose, audience, and context, and reflect on the extent to which you achieved the learning goals of the assignment as well as any goals you set for yourself. “Becoming Elena: A Journey of Learning” is a personal narrative with my peers and teacher as an audience. The purpose of the essay is to describe three different ways through which I learn. I would say that I have written this essay within the context of personal development and learning experiences throughout the years. But not just random learning experiences. I have highlighted three different ways I learned that still…

From Indigenous Roots to Global Heights
By Elena Pjetergjokaj Writing about the history of the World Trade Center and its significance within the community without first writing about the history of New York City itself seems almost impossible since they are incredibly interlinked. For this, I must travel back in time to way before the construction began in the 1960s. In fact, I ought to go back a few centuries for this to make sense. From ancient territories that belonged to the Lenape people to European settlements and colorizations around the 15th century and then fast-forwarding to modern-day times, this city has risen to be a vibrant center of commerce and culture with a very diverse community. Today,…
